One of the most popular clubs in Ireland is Ballybunion which has two superb courses. The Old Course is ranked among the top links courses in the world and has been played by many top international golfers and celebrities. Tom Watson has been involved in the design of the course for many years and it is one of his favourites. Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Greg Norman and Ernie Els are just a few of the big names who have completed the course and many return again and again. President Bill Clinton played there in August 1999 and since then there is a bronze statue of him outside the police station in the town.

Arnold Palmer was involved in the design of Tralee Golf Course and it remains one of the creations of which he is most proud. It is located about five miles from the town of Tralee, in Barrow, on the coast of the Atlantic. There is a view of the ocean from every hole and some of the fairways run right along the edge of the sea on top of the cliffs. This calls for accurate shooting and golfers must be able to compensate for the wind also. Tralee course has been described as “possibly the finest test of golf in all Ireland”. Because of its location and stunning scenery this course can be enjoyed by professionals and amateurs alike.

Galway is Ireland’s fifth largest city, and has a variety of choices to offer when it comes to tourism. Galway hotels offer warm Irish hospitality and a relaxing place to plan your visit. It is situated on the West coast of the country, on the mouth of the river Corrib. The North Atlantic current gives it a mild and moist climate with no temperature extremes, although it can sometimes be windy and rainy.

The city was founded by the English after the Norman invasion of Britain. In Medieval times it was a major port in overseas trade. In the late fifteenth century, the city was twice ravaged by fire. Because of its long standing English tradition, Galway had a difficulty relationship with the rest of Ireland. The city suffered badly during the potato famine of the nineteenth century.

Visitors to Galway can find good accommodation at Galway Hotels or Galway B&B
